Visual rambling: search the net via google images

Here are some things I found today, writing some of my favorite keywords in google images:

- The wonderful world of early computing [source]
- Programmer's Almanac: Dec 18th 2006 [Zuse's machine]
- Charles Babbage's Difference Engine No. 2 Technical Description [source] -> technical details, with original images, free in PDF!
- SMM [source], a different class of state machines, similar to Turing machines, but based on modification of a graph-like storage. The formal definition is here
- Programmable recon guration of
Physarum machines [source]. This is a crazy idea, even for my standards: "Plasmodium of Physarum polycephalum is a large cell capable of solving graphtheoretic,
optimization and computational geometry problems due to its unique
foraging behavior." (what!? :D )
- Minimalistic universal Turing machines [source]... but how do you read Wolfram's notation??? :}
- "This is an attempt to create a series of simple diagrams that describe archetypal types of systems and their components." [source] and it is very cool (and visual!)
- Voronoi treemap algorithm [source]
