That's not a problem, Star Trek originally was pitched as a "cowboys in space" series exploring "the last frontier".
The real problem would be JJ Abrams not putting a big breasted green-skinned chick in a skimpy suit in the damn movie. And not making me to switch off the brain to have fun for 1 hour and half, 2 hours. If he fails I will hit him with a stick made out of corbomite.
