iRex (a spin-off company of Philips) markets a reader for pdf documents (with writing capability)
https://www.irexshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/28
for a price around 650 euro.
Sony has a similar reader (probably it came first), but you cannot write on that one:
http://products.sel.sony.com/pa/prs/reader_features.html
with a price from $299 to $399 (according to this site).
And for your apartment, check this flexible clock out:
http://www.engadget.com/2005/06/16/citizens-paper-thin-digital-clock/
unfortunately it has no price tag, at this time.
For more info check e-ink.
I'm still waiting for a pda or laptop with this kind of flexible paper-like display... it would be really terrific.
